Innovation highlighted in adidas chairman  & executives visit in Yuen Thai Dongguan

Adidas chairman of the executive board and CEO Herbert Hainer together with other adidas executives visited Yuen Thai Industrial Co. Ltd (YTI) in Dongguan, China last May 15. During this visit, Mr. Hainer, who has been the CEO of adidas for the past 12 years, stressed the importance of innovation among its partners.
 
He commented that he was impressed with YTI’s innovation and passion and that this should be a continuing strategy. YTI’s level of product method innovation and manufacturing engineering has impressed Mr. Hainer and the adidas executives so much so that YTI was the only apparel facility to be visited during the group’s Asia tour.
 
Mr. Glenn Bennett, adidas executive board member and global operations head, also added that they are interested in working with the local government on innovation projects. Other adidas executives who were in this visit were: Andy Koehler – head of Global Sourcing; Philip Courtenay – head of Apparel Sourcing; Martin Evers – head of Operations; David Round – head of Global Technical Services; Cathy Nielsen – country manager, GZLO; Perina So – senior Merchandising manager, GZLO; David Yeh – managing director; Tong Siang (material supplier of adidas).
 
Mr. Hainer has visited YTI Dongguan twice. The first time was in 2007.
 
YTI has a leading role in the adidas strategic vendor community. adidas has a full set of KPI’s in various areas wherein they measure performance of vendors.  YTI is doing well under their measurement criteria and is therefore ranked as Global Strategic Partner.
