Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City Focuses on Disaster Relief & Clothes DonationLuen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City's list of charitable activities focus on disaster relief and clothes donation. In the December 2004 Asian Tsunami, employees in Dongguan participated in Luen Thai's worldwide fundraising to help the tsunami victims. The executive management also pledged to double the total amount raised by the employees to encourage them to participate in the campaign. Overall, the funds raised were donated to the local branches of UNICEF and Red Cross. In 2008, the employees and management of Luen Thai Dongguan held another fundraising for the victims of the Sichuan earthquake in China. A total of RMB174,802.90. In addition, the company donated RMB150,000, making the total donation from both employees and company worth RMB324,802.90. A year after the tragedy, around 3,000 employees of Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City held a commemoration activity for the victims through organizing a program, which was featured by a local China TV. Apart from disaster aid, Luen Thai Dongguan also engaged in clothes donation. Among them, the donation of 12,000 pieces of clothes last April 2009 through “Crossroads Foundation” for the benefit of less fortunate people in Africa. Also during the opening of Luen Thai Dongguan's "Green Farm," general manager and VP Alex Chan donated clothes to Wang Huali, head of non-government environmental organization Green Pearl River, for use of their members during their environmental activities.
