Leading US Business Schools Visit Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City for Valuable China Business InsightAs an industry leader, Luen Thai has always been tapped by various companies and organizations for best practices sharing. With the establishment of the Dongguan Supply Chain City, a mega-facility which houses end-to-end apparel supply chain services, Luen Thai has even attracted more interest not only from government and industry players but educational institutions as well. Recently, Luen Thai's Dongguan Supply Chain City hosted visits from Philadelphia University and Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business on March 18 and 19, respectively. Speaking on behalf of Luen Thai was executive vice president and Luen Thai Philippines president Frank Sauceda, who provided both groups with an overview of Luen Thai's China apparel business and other industry-related insights. "Given the current global economic landscape and changing China business landscape, it is important for us in Luen Thai to stay true to our values which made us successful; align with the right customers and partners; at the same time improve flexibility and competitiveness," said Mr. Sauceda. The presentation was followed by a tour which showed the guests various facilities within the Supply Chain City ranging from its design and development center, production floor, product showroom and others. "We really wanted to see the company that has revolutionized apparel manufacturing through the concept of 'design to store,' said D.K. Malhotra, professor of finance in the School of Business Administration at Philadelphia University. Their delegation was composed of 39 MBA students. On the other hand, SMU Cox School of Business brought 95 executive MBA students to Dongguan Supply Chain City. Mel Fugate, PhD assistant professor in the Management and Organizations Department of SMU Cox School of Business, noted "Luen Thai is an excellent example of a fully integrated business model—sourcing, design, manufacturing, and logistics. Visiting the Dongguan Supply Chain City enables students to see all aspects in one location." The tours often end with great appreciation from visitors. "It is truly impressive," added Mr. Fugate. "Luen Thai enables our student executives to see firsthand the textile industry of today - the scope and scale of resources employed and true global reach." In addition Mr. Malhotra said "we realized the competitive advantage of using Dongguan Supply Chain City if apparel brands want a quality product to hit the market as quickly as possible."
