Milestones

1983 Luen Thai made its first venture in the apparel business through a sweater facility in Saipan.  

1988 Opened its first factory in the Philippines. At present, Luen Thai is the biggest apparel exporter in the country.

1998 Purchased land and opened the 1.4M sq. ft. Supply Chain City in Dongguan, China.

2000 Set up CTSI Logistics in New Jersey and DDS Apparel in New York.

2001 Awarded with a Certificate of Excellence by the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA).  

2002 Acquired GJM from Warnaco; started construction of the second Supply Chain City in Qingyuan, China.

2004 Became a public company by listing in the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong; acquired Tomwell from Jones/Kasper; sealed joint venture with Yue Yuen.

2005 Acquired Tien-Hu Group for sweater production; opened Outward Processing Arrangement (OPA) facilities in Macau and Hong Kong.

2006 Acquired 50% equity of TMS, a multi-product apparel marketer; Formed Shenzhen Guangthai International Co., Ltd. for denimwear production in a 50-50 joint venture with Guangdong Foreign Trade Group Co., Ltd. In the Philippines, Luen Thai through its joint venture with Yue Yuen, Yuenthai, opened a new facility in Cebu.

2007 Luen Thai Holdings Limited named overall winner and large enterprise category winner in the People Management Awards 2006 given by Hong Kong Institute of Human Resources and South China Morning Post in association with HKUST Business School; L&T Internatioanal Group Philippines won Best Employer Award 2006 from the Clark Investors and Locators Association in Pampanga, Philippines; Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City won the Industrial Safety Award from the Fenggang Social Insurance Bureau, China.
