Disaster Aid, Children's Education and Elderly Care Supported by Luen Thai's Partner Companies

Luen Thai's partner companies such as Desk Top Limited, CTSI Logistics, GJM/Tellas, GTI/Thai Ying  and TMS Group have reported their various charitable activities that center on helping victims of disasters, children's education and elderly welfare.  

In celebration of International Volunteer’s Day on December 5, Desk Top employees from its Mega Factory visited a local Home for the Aged in cooperation with Tangxia Volunteer Center. Further, Desk Top's Mega Factory employees formed their own volunteer group last December 9 and received training from the Tangxia Town Volunteer Center teachers. Finally, on December 13, another batch of Desk Top employees visited the local nursing home for elderly. Desk Top Limited is Luen Thai's bags company partner.  

Meanwhile, during the devastating earthquake that struck Sichuan (China) in 2008, GJM/TellaS employees in Panyu, Qingyuan and Dongguan raised funds to help the victims. A donation of over RMB150,000 was raised by the employees. In GTI/Thai Ying, employees also contributed to help aid victims of the Sichuan earthquake. Commemoration programs were also held for the victims.

On the other hand, during the Asian Tsunami of 2004, TMS Group focused on children's education as the company embarked on its school program right after December 2004. The school, named Sacred Heart of Jesus Convent, is the only educational institution in Tamil Nadu (very close to the tsunami area of Sea of Paramankeni), and has 250 students. It provides classes from 1st-10th grade and high school. TMS CFO Joerg Kornblum visited the school in 2007 and met with school head sister Maria Selvam.

Recently, CTSI Logistics, Luen Thai's logistics partner, has also reported charitable activities related to helping victims of the October 2009 typhoon and flooding that hit Manila and other parts of the Philippines. Clothes donation were made through donate to Sagip kapamilya, the emergency humanitarian assistance program of ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. Turning over the donation was CTSI corporate public relations member Jem Macapagal with Engr. Baby Manila, a Sagip Kapamilya regular volunteer, and Marcel Riñon, Sagip Kapamilya Warehouse OIC, receiving the donation last October 16. In addition,  CPR Manager Bingoy Gonzales shared that the cash donation from employees were deposited to their partner foundations.

Similarly, CTSI's Saipan Station team members also helped victims of Typhoon Choi-Wan by delivering clothes donation to its destination in Capitol Hill, where the victims were temporarily staying.
