Labor Orientation Meeting, Sports Day Held in Luen Thai Philippines

Labor Management Cooperation Orientation

Luen Thai Philippines hosted the Labor Management Cooperation (LMC) orientation by the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) last May 20, 2010. The event aimed at providing a background on how the LMC Program can help improve the existing labor-management relationship among organizations.

LMC is a Philippine government program which has been established twenty years ago and is gaining more importance  recently as organizations are called to adopt more socially responsible and employee sensitive programs.

Maria Teresita L. Cancio from NCMB was the event facilitator. The event was attended by more than 30 participants coming from various industries such as manufacturing, hotel services, electronics and many others. Best practices in the fields of industrial relations, employee activities as well as rewards and incentive systems were discussed.

Luen Thai Philippines' hosting of the LMC orientation was also aimed at strengthening its partnership with fellow business locators of the Clark Freeport Zone and support the Clark Human Resource Council (CHRC) and Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Industrial Relations.

The CHRC was established in 2009 in a consolidated effort to unify the Human Resources practitioners of Clark Freeport Zone and to provide a representation for the continuous improvement and sharing of best practices among its members. LTPI HRD Manager, Jefferson Lacsamana, is concurrently holding the position of Secretary General in CHRC.

Sports Day

In line with its commitment to strengthen inter-department camaraderie and promote work/life balance, Luen Thai Philippines' two facilities held a sports day for the employees.

Last May 15, employees of L&T International Group Philippines Inc. and Golden Dragon Apparel Inc. participated in "Fun Olympics: Sports Fiesta 2010" at the Pampanga Sports Complex in San Fernando, Pampanga. Ten teams were formed from around 2,800 employees of both facilities to compete in nine sports events as well as a cheer and dance contest.

Executive vice president for Luen Thai International Group and president of Luen Thai Philippines Frank Sauceda, together with vice president for operations and business development Marilet Penaflor and Clark Development Corporation CEO Benigno Ricafort graced the opening ceremonies.

Winners won cash prizes. Luen Thai Philippines' Fun Olympics is a much awaited event among employees. It started in 2005, however, in the past two years, mini-tournaments were held instead of one big sports day. This year marked the third big celebration of Fun Olympics.
