Philippine President Benigno Aquino III graced the official opening of D’Luxe Bags Philippines, Inc. last January 16 in Tarlac. The President delivered a speech thanking Luen Thai for their investment in the country and providing jobs to thousands of Filipinos.
D’Luxe Bags Philippines is one of Luen Thai Holdings Ltd.’s latest investment in the Philippines. The facility produces Coach luxury bags and is considered by the customer as one of their fastest-growing non-China facilities. It targets a manpower of 3,000 by 2015. Together with other Luen Thai Holdings production facilities in Pampanga and Cebu, the company is considered the largest clothing and accessories manufacturer in the country.
President Aquino also gave special thanks to Luen Thai non-executive director Willie Tan for his commitment to the Filipino people.
“Whenever I see Mr. Tan, I am very pleased because it’s always good news.” He said that aside from his continued support in the company’s continued expansion in the Philippines, Mr. Tan also performed the role of an unofficial special envoy during the Administration’s visit to China. He encouraged so many business entities in China to do their business in the Philippines, specifically in the tourism sector.
More than 60 guests attended the D’Luxe facility inauguration from customers, government officials, business partners and affiliates.
Distinguished guests included Secretaries Cesar Purisima (Finance); Gregory Domingo (Trade & Industry); Mar Roxas III (Transportation & Communication); and Rosalinda Baldoz (Labor & Employment).
Luen Thai Holdings Board of Directors Henry Tan, Raymond Tan, and Jerry Tan were also onsite to witness the celebration.
D’ Luxe Bags Philippines was incorporated in December 2010 and was registered with the Board of Investments (BOI) on January 2011. As of December 2011, D’Luxe has 1,200 employees and is producing 90,000 to 100,000 pieces of bags per month.
