Chinese Vice Minister Visits Luen ThaiVice Minister Bi Jingquan of the China’s National Development and Reform Commission visited Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City on October 15, 2006. Luen Thai CEO Henry Tan, Manager of Investment Bernard Ho, and Shenzhen Lida General Manager Cynthia Shum met him and his party. Mr. Tan and Mr. Bi discussed effects on the local apparel industry of the EU-US trade measures against China’s apparel exports. Since late last year, the EU and US have re-imposed quotas on several categories of apparel imports from China. The two parties also talked about the Chinese government’s corresponding policies to support the industry. During the visit, Mr. Bi expressed his appreciation on Luen Thai’s effort and flexible operations in relation to the quota issue. The guests also toured Supply Chain City facilities. Mr. Tan presented the vice minister with Terracotta Warrior of Ch’in artwork as a token of appreciation for the visit. |
