More than 1,000 employees from Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City celebrated the Chinese New Year together with top executives and management, partners and colleagues from different business units in the Luen Thai 2008 Annual Dinner last February 15 at the Castfast Grand Ballroom in Dongguan, China.
The event's theme, "Strength in Unity, Success in Partnership," was carried out in an Olympics-inspired celebration. The program opened with a torch relay video showing different employees carrying the torch around the Supply Chain City. Meanwhile, wellness manager Jigs dela Cruz appeared in person carrying the torch into the ballroom and passed it on to Luen Thai founder and chairman Dr. Tan Siu Lin, who lit up the cauldron before delivering his speech.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Tan noted Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City's 10th anniversary. He recalled the countless changes and challenges the company had to navigate throughout the years . "However, we share the same passion and morale as athletes in the Olympics. With continuous trainings, alignments, adaptations, competitions and progresses, we can achieve our slogan - 'Strength in Unity; Success in Partnership.'"
Chief executive officer Henry Tan also recalled how difficult year 2007 was for the apparel industry in general but was hopeful that 2008 would be a better year. He added Luen Thai will keep building its presence not only in China but other countries such as Philippines, Indonesia, India and Cambodia.
Another program highlight was the Employee Service Awards, in which employees who have been with the company for five, ten and fifteen years were given recognition. The awards opened with a parade of the service awardees. Executive vice president Frank Sauceda, chief manufacturing officer Raymond Tan and chief executive officer Henry Tan awarded medals to the employees.
In addition, event sponsors received plaques of recognition from chief merchandising officer Anne Mok. Representatives from major sponsor Fountain Set Limited and gold sponsors Jin Chang Enterprises Co. and Coats China Holdings Ltd. were present to receive the plaques.
Ms. Mok also led the rest of the executives and senior management in the toast, wishing the best for all the business units in Luen Thai.
For the closing remarks, Raymond Tan thanked everyone who provided hardwork and dedication for Luen Thai's success.
Spicing up the evening were modern dance numbers performed by Luen Thai's production employees. Also part of the entertainment were videos showing various departments saying their Chinese New Year greeting. A "looking back" video was also played recapping the top events that happened in Luen Thai in the past year.
The top three lucky draw winners received cash prize worth RMB6,000++, an all-expense paid trip to Saipan and a Nokia N series mobile phone.
