University of Michigan Visits Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain CityAround 30 students from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business visited Luen Thai Dongguan Supply Chain City (DGSCC) last May 18, 2010. The group was led by Professor James P. Walsh. The visit consisted of a business presentation by Frank Sauceda, Luen Thai International Group executive vice president and Luen Thai Philippines president, as well as a facility tour which included TMS's merchandising office, Verte's lean production floors, and recreational facilities for employees within the site's corporate housing building. Further to their visit objective, Mr. Sauceda's presentation and Q&A enabled the students to engage directly with a top executive, learn the company's business and its challenges and gain insights on leadership in a global business environment. The school's visit to DGSCC was also aimed at helping the students appreciate the complexity of global business as well as the conduct of business in South China. "As a group that makes clothes for many of the most recognizable brands in America, my students are really interested to learn what Luen Thai does," according to Professor Walsh. "From all I have learned, Luen Thai is one of the best managed companies in this part of the world." Hosting the visit was Corporate Services & Development led by Rozina Wong, vice president. In 2007, about 40 students from Ross School of Business together with Professor Walsh, also visited DGSCC and were impressed with Luen Thai's scale of operations.
